Steel Challenge

WHAT IS THE STEEL CHALLENGE?

Steel Challenge is a dynamic discipline overseen by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association and features eight standardized courses with metal targets in three sizes.

Competitors are ranked solely on their time in the competition, with the competitor with the lowest overall time being the winner.

Steel Challenge shares many similarities with IPSC but in a much more TV and spectator-friendly format, thanks to simpler rules and courses that are repeated year after year. This makes Steel Challenge a place where records are made and broken.

The Steel Challenge competition format was created in 1981 by Mike Fichman and Mike Dalton with the goal of finding the fastest and most accurate shooter.

The Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championship has grown into one of the largest professional pistol competitions in the United States. In 2007, the total prize money for the competition reached $390,000. The first World Championship attracted 70 shooters and was won by John Shaw, who won the title of the world's fastest shooter and the accompanying $20,000 grand prize.
